PASSPORT
Algerian citizens wishing to apply for a passport must be registered at the Algerian Embassy in Canberra.

Important

The biometric passport is an individual travel document. Accordingly, minors must have an individual passport and cannot be worn on their parent’s passports;

The applicant must be present at the Embassy in Canberra when submitting the application and collecting the passport;

As the biometric passport is issued in Algeria, the processing time may take weeks;
-
The picture that will appear on the biometric passport will be taken at the Embassy during the operation of enrolment; you must be prepared to be photographed;

The documents required for applying for a new biometric passport:

The expired passport;
-
The valid applicant’s consular registration card;
-
The application form and annex form, duly filled in and signed by the applicant or by the legal guardian for minors;

The original applicant’s special birth certificate “12S”;
-
The applicant’s blood type must be indicated on the form;
-
Copy of a valid residency visa, delivered by the Immigration Department;
-
Proof of address (any copy of the last utility bill);
-
Four (4) similar recent passport-sized photographs (See photographic requirements below);
-
Proof of employment (a letter from the employer or copy of Certificate of Business of Registration or copy of Enrolment Certificate for students);

The parental authorisation form, duly filled in and signed by the legal guardian, if the applicant is minor with the payment of the stamp fees, $1 Australian Dollar;

Payment of the stamp fees $75 US Dollar (payable by cash only when applying for the passport).
Important
-
The original special birth certificate “12S” will be kept at the Embassy and it will be returned to the holder when issuing its biometric passport;
Photograph requirements
-
To be taken just before lodgement of a passport application;
-
To be 45 mm in height and 35 mm in width;
-
The face should occupy 75% of the photo;
-
To be centred, clear and in sharp focus with no shadows;
-
Must have plain white background;
-
To be of high quality, with no ink marks or creases;
-
To have appropriate brightness and contrast that show natural skin tone;
-
Looking directly at the camera, with a neutral expression;
-
If applicant normally wears glasses, he/she does not need to wear them for a passport photograph.
Lost, stolen or damaged passport
If a passport is lost, stolen or damaged, you must report it immediately at your local police station and to the Algerian Embassy, where you can apply for a new one.
The replacement passport is issued after cancellation of the lost, stolen or damaged one.
In addition to the documents listed above, Please provide:

The full lost property report, issued by your local police station;

Letter explaining in detail how the passport has been damaged;

The lost document declaration form, duly filled in and signed by the applicant or by the legal guardian for minors with the payment of the stamp fees, $1 Australian Dollar;

Payment of additional fees $75 US Dollar, (payable by cash only when applying for the passport).
